Ironies Abound

Does anybody else see the irony in invading Iraq to "spread democracy in the Middle East", and then standing on the sidelines while another democracy, Lebanon, is wiped off the face of the planet? What does Iraq have that Lebanon doesn't have?

Can you say "oil"?

Speaking of “ironies, how about this one: The Israeli state (i.e., organized, clear chain-of-command from top to bottom, and all of that) attacks and occupies independent territories both to its north and its south, and yet Chicago’s very own Newspaper of Record editorializes that IRAN "is challenging the world, directly and by proxy. The answer must be swift and sure, not just on the battlefield, but in the Security Council."(1)

When do you suppose it was the last time that the World’s Greatest Newspaper editorialized that Israel or the United States is challenging the world, directly and by proxy? And that the answer must be swift and sure, not just on the battlefield, but in the Security Council?

Before Christ?

Never?
